Learn More About Yancyabril
What makes you the Next Music Star?
I have the drive, vision, and artistic identity to build something bigger than myself. I understand that being an artist is about more than making great music — it's about creating a world people want to be part of. From my sound to my branding, I’m intentional about every piece of my artistry. I’m not waiting for someone to give me permission to build my career; I’m already building it, and I’m ready for the next level.
What do you love about music and performing?
I love the energy exchange between an artist and an audience — there's something magical about it. Music brings strangers from completely different walks of life into one room and gives them something to feel together. For a moment, our differences don't matter; we're connected through the same emotion. I think that's one of the most beautiful and healing things music can do, and it's what makes performing so special to me.
Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators?
My dream collaboration would be RAYE. She's a phenomenal vocalist, songwriter, and composer, and I deeply admire her artistry and the way she tells stories through music. Being born and raised in New York with Dominican heritage has given me a very eclectic musical palette. I grew up listening to Rocío Dúrcal and Juan Gabriel, alongside Beyoncé and Usher, while also loving artists like Evanescence and Lady A. I've always been drawn to different sounds, genres, and ways of expressing emotion. I see that diversity as my superpower because it allows me to pull from different musical worlds and create something that feels uniquely mine.
What would you do with the $10,000 Grand Prize?
I'd invest it directly into bringing my vision to life. I've been working toward touring in 2027 in support of my debut album, and as an independent artist, funding is one of the biggest obstacles to making that happen. This prize would help me take that next step, bring my music to new audiences, and build a stronger connection with the people who support my art. It wouldn't just be prize money to me — it would be an investment in the career I've been working so hard to build.
