What makes you the Next Music Star?
I think it’s because I’m just unapologetically myself. I love singing, I love being creative, and I love finding unexpected ways to bring music to people. Whether I’m doing an opera cover of a rap song or making people laugh with my videos, I want people to feel something when they watch me. I’ve already started building a community through my music, and I’m excited to see how far I can take it.
What do you love about music and performing?
I love that music lets me be so many different versions of myself. I can be silly, dramatic, emotional, or completely ridiculous, and somehow it all still feels like me. There’s nothing like getting to share something you love with other people and realizing it makes them feel something, too. Performing makes me feel the most like myself, and I think my favorite part is getting to share that feeling with other people.
Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators?
My music taste is genuinely so unhinged because why are Fetty Wap, Rae Sremmurd, Maggie Rogers, Fleet Foxes, and opera all on the same playlist??? I love artists who do their own thing and aren’t afraid to be different. I’d LOVE to collaborate with all of them, and Lin-Manuel Miranda would be a dream collaborator because I’m obsessed with how he blends hip-hop and musical theatre. Also, if I could sing with an opera legend like Maria Callas, I think my brain would actually explode. I really don’t believe in having just one musical lane, and I think that’s reflected in the music I make, too.
What would you do with the $10,000 Grand Prize?
Honestly, probably a little bit of everything!!! I’d love to pay off some of my student loans because adulting is expensive, and it would be amazing to have a little more freedom to chase my dreams. I’d put some toward my music, whether that’s lessons, performing, or creating more opportunities for myself. I’m also a huge creative at heart, so I’d definitely find a way to feed my other passions, too. And I’d love to share some of it with the people who’ve supported me. $10,000 would mean so much more to me than just winning a competition. It would help me build a life with more room for the things I love.
