What makes you the Next Music Star?

I’m not the artist who just started making music. I’m the artist who never stopped. For 14+ years, I’ve built Timtmmusic from the ground up: writing, producing, performing and releasing 100+ original songs while balancing a career, marriage and raising three daughters. I’m a self-made, independent artist from Pittsburgh who turned a MySpace-era obsession with emo, alternative, pop-punk and electronic music into a sound and identity that are unmistakably my own. What makes me different is that I’m not waiting for someone to discover me before I start acting like an artist. I’ve built the catalog, the audience, the visual identity and the community myself. I’ve played shows, earned radio and playlist support, grown my streaming audience and kept creating through every phase of life. Now I’m ready for the part I’ve never had: a real shot at a much bigger stage. I’m not trying to become the next Timtmmusic. I already am. I’m ready to show everyone else why.

What do you love about music and performing?

I love that music can make you feel something before you even have the words for it. It can turn a terrible day into a great one, make a memory permanent, introduce you to people you never would have met or make you feel understood when you thought nobody else felt the same way. For me, music has been all of that and more. I’ve been making it for 14+ years because I genuinely can’t imagine my life without creating. I love the process of taking some ridiculous idea that exists in my head, turning it into a song and eventually putting it out into the world for someone else to connect with. Music lets me be nostalgic, weird, vulnerable, loud and completely myself. That’s why I’m still here after all these years. I don’t just listen to the music I write. I live in it.

Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators?

My musical DNA was forged somewhere between MySpace, Hot Topic and an overactive GarageBand project. I grew up on emo, pop-punk, alternative and electronic music, with artists like My Chemical Romance, blink-182, The All-American Rejects, Fall Out Boy, Good Charlotte, 3OH!3, Cobra Starship and The Killers shaping my love for big hooks and bigger personalities. I’m equally inspired by ’80s synthpop and the DIY spirit of artists who made something unforgettable with whatever they had. My dream collaborators would be artists who could throw something completely unexpected into the Timtmmusic universe: Tyson Ritter, Gerard Way, Hayley Williams, Patrick Stump, Andrew McMahon, Lights, 3OH!3 or The All-American Rejects. I’d love to make something that sounds like it absolutely should not work on paper, then somehow becomes the song everyone remembers.

What would you do with the $10,000 Grand Prize?

I’d use the $10,000 to turn years of DIY momentum into the biggest chapter of Timtmmusic yet. I’d invest in professionally produced and mastered new music, music videos and visual content, targeted promotion, live-show development and the infrastructure to actually get those songs in front of more people. I’d also put part of it toward pressing physical releases and building the kind of live experience I’ve dreamed about since my MySpace days. Most importantly, I’d use the opportunity to amplify something I’ve already proven I can do: create music independently and keep going when nobody is handing me a roadmap. I’ve spent 14+ years building Timtmmusic one song, one listener and one ridiculous idea at a time. $10,000 wouldn’t make me an artist. It would give an artist who never stopped creating the resources to finally make some serious noise.
