What makes you the Next Music Star?
I think what makes me the Next Music Star is that find music to be such a fun thing to do! So much so that I am constantly creating music. I think through this opportunity, it would test me as a performer and as a musician in general, to give my all, and I love a good challenge. I think the Next Music Star is someone who has the right balance between discipline and fun, and I believe I am that person :)
What do you love about music and performing?
I love music because it is one of the ways we can authentically express ourselves and connect with others. Everyday, we experience so much, and every experience can be made into a song which is something I find so beautiful about creating music. With the interconnectedness of the world, brought on by social media, it’s so special that someone can create a song in their bedroom and someone in another country can resonate with it. I love doing live shows with my band! We especially love interacting with the crowd, and when we’re amped, they’re amped! It’s the absolute best! I also have this tradition that at the end of my shows, I throw a bunch of friendship bracelets out into the crowd as a way to say thank you for vibing with us. I hope to do that at Jingle Ball this year!
Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators?
My musical inspirations are always changing, but if I had to pick a few, I would say it would be The Marias, Clairo, Faye Webster, Steve Lacy, and Kali Uchis. If they would be down someday, it would be really cool to collaborate with them :)
What would you do with the $10,000 Grand Prize?
With this money, my bandmates and I will reinvest it into making more music, band gear, marketing, and potentially touring! We hope to use this money to make more music and to make the music we are currently creating, better. :)
