About Shayne Paul

I'm an alt-rock artist on a mission. My songs are lyrically deep and musically wide, with flavors of bands like Jars of Clay and Switchfoot. I'm a Christian, a husband and dad of 3 and I believe my music can bring hope to a hurting world.

What makes you the Next Music Star?

I write and perform all of my own songs. With a list of completed songs and a constant flow of inspiration, I'm ready to shout my message for the world to hear. Music changes people, and changed people change the world. I am tenacious, passionate and I stand squarely behind every song I write.

What do you love about music and performing?

I've been writing songs since I was 6 and it's where I process everything. I absolutely love every stage of the process, from writing lyrics in a dark bathroom to shouting anthems to a crowd of skateboarders; I am most alive when I'm lost in the music.

Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators?

I love many artists and musicians, but the most formative influences for me over the years have been Jon Foreman (of Switchfoot), Jars of Clay and Gable Price (of Gable Price & Friends). I would love to collaborate with Jon Foreman or Gable Price for sure!

What would you do with the $10,000 Grand Prize?

I have three kids and a wife that I'm the sole provider for, so this money would be a huge blessing to our family and would be a way to help pay them back for the support and flexibility they've shown me as I've pursued music alongside my day job. I'd like to use some of the money to help catapult my music a little further as well, especially because I have never had much expendable income to allocate to my music.
