What makes you the Next Music Star?
What makes RICK & RUBY the next music star? We believe it's our ability to connect with people through music. We have been making music together since 1998, and over the years we've had the privilege of entertaining audiences from all walks of life, including thousands of guests aboard cruise ships around the world. We bring a little bit of everything to the stage (pop, R&B, country, jazz, and timeless classics), but what really makes us special is our chemistry, our harmonies, and the genuine joy we share with our audiences. We're seasoned entertainers, but we're far from finished! We still have dreams, ambition, and a whole lot of music left to share. I believe great music has no age limit, and neither does becoming a star. For RICK & RUBY, this isn't about where we've been, it's about where we're going next.
What do you love about music and performing?
What we love most about music and performing is the connection it creates between people. Music has an incredible way of bringing folks together, regardless of age, background, or where they come from. A familiar melody can bring back a cherished memory, lift someone's spirits, or simply make them smile. And being able to share those moments with an audience is something we never take for granted. For us, performing is about so much more than singing songs. It's about sharing a little piece of ourselves, having fun, and making people feel like they're part of something special. We love the energy, the laughter, the dancing, and especially those moments when an entire room is singing along. After all these years, we still get excited every time we step on stage. There's nothing quite like doing what you love, doing it together, and knowing you've made someone's day just a little brighter. That's what keeps us going!
Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators?
Legends like Quincy Jones, Prince, Whitney Houston, and Aretha Franklin have had a tremendous influence on how we approach music and performing. Quincy taught us the value of musical excellence and creativity, Prince showed us what it means to be fearless and original, and Whitney and Aretha set the standard for vocal power, passion, and the ability to make people feel every word of a song. We also draw inspiration from artists like Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Elton John, whose music has touched generations. As for dream collaborators, sharing a stage or studio with any of these legends would have been an incredible honor. Today, we'd love to collaborate with artists like Bruno Mars, John Legend, or Jennifer Hudson, who carry that same spirit of musicianship, soul, and authenticity.
What would you do with the $10,000 Grand Prize?
Winning the $10,000 grand prize would be more than just a financial blessing. It would be an investment in the next chapter of RICK & RUBY! We've spent years entertaining audiences, building our reputation, and doing what we love. Now we're ready to take that experience and passion to another level. We'd put the money right back into our music by producing and recording new material, creating professional promotional videos, expanding our online presence, and reaching audiences who haven't had the opportunity to experience our art yet. We've always believed that you're never too old to dream, grow, or pursue something bigger. This prize would help us turn some of those dreams into reality.
