Learn More About Planet Savy
What makes you the Next Music Star?
I’m not afraid to make music that sounds or feels different from one song to the next. As Planet Savy, I blend alternative, pop punk, rock, R&B and whatever else fits the story I’m telling. My music is for people who feel too much, and I turn real experiences like heartbreak, grief, confidence, relationships and growing into yourself into songs people can see themselves in. I’m building more than just a catalog. I’m building a world and a community around being unapologetically yourself.
What do you love about music and performing?
I love that music can take something extremely personal and somehow make a complete stranger feel understood. Some of my favorite moments as an artist are when someone tells me a lyric made them feel less alone. Performing gives me another way to bring those songs to life. I get to take something I created by myself and suddenly share that feeling with an entire room. That connection is what makes me want to keep doing this.
Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators?
My inspirations come from a lot of different genres because I’ve never wanted to stay in one box. Artists like MGK, Paramore, Avril Lavigne and artists across alternative R&B have influenced different parts of my sound and the way I approach storytelling. My dream collaborators would be artists who aren’t afraid to experiment across genres and create something unexpected. I’d especially love to collaborate with MGK someday and make a record that blends both of our styles.
What would you do with the $10,000 Grand Prize?
I would put it directly back into growing Planet Savy as an independent artist. I’d invest in professional production, mixing and mastering, music videos, live performance preparation and promotion so I could reach people outside of my current audience. I’d also use part of it to continue building the visual world around my music and give my releases the quality and reach I’ve always imagined for them. $10,000 wouldn’t just fund one song. It would help me take the next real step in building a sustainable music career.
