What makes you the Next Music Star?

Well I don’t need to be a star per se, but it would be great to share my music with more people. I really hope that my music can be healing for people that need it.

What do you love about music and performing?

What I love about music and performing is that it is a source of somatic healing for any level of stress, and it brings people together. My favorite memories in music were when I was collaborating with others. I think it is a great way to support and complement each other strengths because everyone brings something good and unique to music. My favorite things to do in music are riffs and any kind of ballad.

Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators?

My biggest music inspirations are Alicia Keys, Whitney Houston, David Archuleta, Justin Bieber, Sam Smith, Mitski, The Fray, Kelly Clarkson, Adele, HER, Jay Sean, Selena Quintanilla, Olivia Dean, Halsey, Camila Cabello, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Kehlani, Madison Beer, Selena Gomez, Jesse McCartney, Babyface, and so many more. Honestly, there are so many great musicians for so many different reasons.

What would you do with the $10,000 Grand Prize?

I would use half of it to produce my first album that I have a lot of songs already written for. Now, I just need to get them produced to a point where they are radio ready, but I can’t currently afford to get my songs produced to that extent. Then, I would use the other half to give back to the communities in Chicago that had supported my music endeavors. I would give $1,000 to Music studios and places in Bronzeville that has been so vital to many amazing musicians, $1,000 to the Pilsen Music Studio that I have taught at, $1,000 towards music in Chinatown, and $1,000 towards music in Little India. Then, I would give the remaining $1,000 towards music in the Chicago Public Libraries. Music was such a lifeline in a time in my life when I was really struggling, so being able to read books on songwriting and lyricism, or practice piano at the library practice rooms, or work at the Pilsen Music Studio meant the world to me. I hope I can use my music to support others, too.
