What makes you the Next Music Star?
It's hard to put into words because it's something I've felt deep in my heart. Music isn't just something I love or dream of doing. It's a part of who I am, and somehow, even before I understood what it meant to be an artist, I always knew this is what I was meant to be. I believe being a star isn't just about how brightly you shine, but how much light you bring to others. I love being able to see my music bring people joy, especially the little ones. My dedication, my work ethic, my humanity, my love for every part of making music, my ability to create something from nothing and touch people's hearts is what makes me a star. It's me. It's who I am. It's who I will always be.
What do you love about music and performing?
Music is a universal language. The idea of being able to create a song that someone on one side of the world can feel and share the same feelings as someone else on the other side of the world is freaking awesome! And then getting to go onstage and perform that song and see people's faces light up and just be in the moment, then meeting them and hearing them tell me how much they enjoyed my performance and what my music meant to them, it's incredible. I also love my fans and creating music in the studio, and then getting to perform it in front of them, it's a feeling that can't really be put into words. I know I used "incredible", but it's bigger and greater than that. It's a superpower from heaven, a gift from God, and I love sharing it.
Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators?
I've always been drawn to the soulful melodies, harmonies and timeless sounds of the 60's/70's/80's! I love listening to older records and hearing the soulthat live musicians brought to the music. That's why incorporating live instruments into my own songs is so important to me. I also love G-funk, rap, hip-hop, and R&B from the 90's and early 2000's. One of my first songs was even inspired by DJ Quick's "Pitch In On A Party". Michael and Janet Jackson, are huge inspirations because they're more than singers, they're true entertainers, something I aspire to be. Some of my dream collaborators include Janet Jackson, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, TokiMonsta, DJ Mustard, Mark Ronson, Rick Rubin, Calvin Harris, Walter Afanaseiff, Max Martin, Mariah Carey, Sade, Tyler The Creator, Childish Gambino, Kenny Loggins, Will.i.am, Benny Blanco, Selena Gomez, and anyone who shares my passion to create, inspire and make timeless and soulful music.
