What makes you the Next Music Star?
I believe that just the fact of being accepted into the Next Music Start Contest says more than what I can define because, in the end, I’m here because of what my music transmits and also because of the hard work and the sacrifices I had made for my career, since I was 13 years old rather than the preconception of how I can put who I am as an artist into words. I want my work to speak for itself musically but also what the audience doesn't see behind being in charge of this company of being an independent artist taking charge of the artistic direction, business, administration, marketing/promotion etc.
What do you love about music and performing?
Connection and vulnerability. I think now that I’m focusing more on my songwriter craft, there is nothing that can compare to performing your music live and seeing how the audience connects
Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators?
My inner circle knows that music is a gift to me—a way of answering God’s call and sharing His love through my art, regardless of our different beliefs. As a Dominican artist, dream collaborations would include Juan Luis Guerra, Vicente García, Covi Quintana, Manny Cruz, Solo Fernández, Giorgio Siladi, Snenie, Alex Ferreira, and the list goes on. Beyond established artists, collaborating with my friends would also be a dream come true. For me, music is about connection, and I would be honored to create something meaningful with artists not only from the Dominican Republic but also from Portugal, Brazil, Spain, Italy, South America, and the USA, like Joaquina, Jorge Drexler, MARO, to reference which ones have inspired me the most lately, and many more.
What would you do with the $10,000 Grand Prize?
I'd invest it in my career and my education, not just the music itself, but everything that goes into making an EP, album. As an independent artist with a low budget, I have to wear different hats every single day to make this dream come true, and it’s hard but not impossible.
