What makes you the Next Music Star?
I believe I was born to do music. I started singing as soon as I could talk and was drawn towards instruments at a very young age. I rarely write a song just to write a song. Creating music is my way of processing my thoughts and communicating them. Of course I have songs that are just for fun, but most of what I write sends a message. I’ve also been doing this for a while; I know how to set up and break down a stage, capture an audience, produce music, and communicate with other professionals. I’m ready for the next step.
What do you love about music and performing?
Music is a universal language and unique to humans. How powerful is that? There is nothing like the thrill of being on a stage and feeding off a crowd–whether that crowd is 2 people or 200 people. Also, as a math nerd and a creative, I love music because it is both systematic and pattern-filled while also being diverse, subjective, and one-of-a-kind.
Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators?
I could say so many good things about these artists, but we ain’t got time for that. 😂 Here’s a solid, but non-exhaustive list: Alicia Keys, Avril Lavigne, Bea Miller, Catie Turner, Clinton Kane, Connor Price, Ellie Banke, Julia Michaels, Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Shawn Mendes, Taylor Swift, Tori Kelly
What would you do with the $10,000 Grand Prize?
First and foremost, I would pay off my student loans and any outstanding medical bills and put some money towards my car. Any remaining money would go towards funding Music for the World (my nonprofit) and any costs associated with building my music and acting career - vocal coaching, studio time, mentorship programs, and the like. Oh, and a nice enclosed litter box and water fountain for my sweet boy. 🐈⬛
