Learn More About Kalea Jordan
What makes you the Next Music Star?
Music and storytelling are my lifelong passions, and I pour my heart into my art, with a lot of attention to detail and personal touches that make listeners feel included. I’m dedicated, hardworking, and always looking to improve myself. I love crafting visuals and worlds around my music, creating an immersive experience. I’m also a seasoned performer and feel very comfortable in front of an audience.
What do you love about music and performing?
To me, music is all about connection. My favorite songs are the ones that feel like the artist read my mind and expressed the thoughts or feelings I couldn’t, and it’s incredibly rewarding to hear that my listeners feel the same way about my music. I love music that moves me and pulls emotions out of me, whether that’s dancing and excitement or cathartic crying or screaming. I adore songwriting because I love words, imagery, and stories—I feel like I’m full to bursting with words that I need to get out. Performing is when I feel most alive. Performing is, of course, a performance, often of my most dramatic self, but it’s also authenticity. Engaging with and truly connecting with an audience requires openness and vulnerability. I think music tears down our walls and lets us all simply experience our shared humanity together.
Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators?
I taught myself to write music as a child by listening to and studying Taylor Swift’s music, and she will always be one of my biggest inspirations. I also greatly admire the songwriting and artistry of Halsey, who would be my number one dream collaboration. Sonically, I draw a lot of inspiration from the 90s and 00s artists I grew up listening to, including The Cranberries, The Fray, Avril Lavigne, Matchbox Twenty, and The Goo Goo Dolls.
What would you do with the $10,000 Grand Prize?
If I won the $10,000 grand prize, I would first buy myself an electric guitar (I’ve got my eye on the sparkly purple Daisy Rock right now), then get back into vocal lessons to improve my skills, and finally use most of the money to record my next project.
