What makes you the Next Music Star?
I think what makes me different is that I’m not trying to become the next version of somebody else. I’ve spent years building K-SQUEEZ from the ground up — the music, the websites, the visuals, the brand, the whole experience. I’ve learned how to create something out of nothing and keep pushing even when nobody is watching. For a long time I was known as a hip hop artist, but I’ve never felt like my music belonged to just one box. I can make hip hop, rock, country, pop, reggae, or whatever the song calls for. That’s where #NOGENRE came from. I’m not chasing a trend. I’m building an identity that can grow with me. And more than anything, I know how to tell a story and make people feel something. I’m not looking to just release songs. I want people to remember the experience of discovering K-SQUEEZ.
What do you love about music and performing?
Music has always been the place where I can be completely myself. I can take something I’ve been through, something I’m feeling, or even something I can’t really explain and turn it into something people can hear and feel. But performing is a whole different feeling. There’s nothing like standing in front of a crowd and feeling the energy come back at you. That moment when people know the words, sing along, laugh, get emotional, or just completely lose themselves in the music — that’s what I love. I don’t want people to just listen to a K-SQUEEZ song. I want them to feel like they were there when it happened. And honestly, that’s one of the reasons #NOGENRE means so much to me. I don’t want to walk on stage knowing exactly what I’m “supposed” to sound like. I want the freedom to make people feel something, whatever the song calls for.
Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators?
Tupac is probably the biggest influence on me because he understood that being an artist was about more than making songs. He told stories, spoke his mind, showed vulnerability, brought people into his world, and made people feel like they actually knew him. That’s the kind of connection I’m chasing. As far as dream collaborations, I’d love to work with artists who aren’t afraid to step outside their lane. People like Post Malone, Jelly Roll, Kid Rock, Zach Bryan, and others who have shown that great music doesn’t always need a label attached to it. I think that’s what makes a collaboration exciting to me — taking two completely different worlds and seeing what happens when you put them together.
What would you do with the $10,000 Grand Prize?
I wouldn’t blow the $10,000 on one big moment. I’d turn it into something that keeps working long after the competition is over. I’d use it to record new music, create professional visuals, build out the #NOGENRE experience, and put real promotion behind the music so it actually reaches people. I’ve already spent years learning how to build the brand and create the world around the music myself. The money would give me the opportunity to take what I’ve been building behind the scenes and put it in front of a much bigger audience. And I’d document the whole process. I want people to be able to look back at that $10,000 and see exactly where it went — not just into a few songs, but into the next stage of K-SQUEEZ. The goal wouldn’t be to spend $10,000. The goal would be to turn $10,000 into something much bigger.
