What makes you the Next Music Star?
I believe the industry is in a creative plateau. your solution is pictured above. We need the next Kurt Cobain, the next MJ, the next music star who will break the mold and change the world. I LOVE experimenting with music and trying new things. A vote for me is a vote for music the way it should be: an experience. I'm interested in projects, concept albums, music that tells a complex story and makes you feel deeply. you won't be getting bland love songs or rhymes about how cool I am. Expect introspective, emotion filled relatable music that scratches your brain the right way. My music is for everyone, and my fans are my community. I value your input, always. I'll never sell out, and I will never put myself above you. I want to deliver the best possible sounds that I can. if music is the soundtrack to our lives, then it is my honor to provide that for you. I take this very seriously, but ultimately I make music because I enjoy it and I think its very fun Thank you for your time!!
What do you love about music and performing?
There are infinite possibilities!! For a long time, I didn't know who I was. I could look in the mirror and tell you who's looking back, but I would feel like I wasn't that person, rather, a conscious observer. When I started writing and composing music, it felt like I was forging my own path for the first time. It felt like I was starting to get to know myself better. Two years in, I've developed my own style and there's no greater feeling than creating something that you can call your own. I'm expressing myself creatively, and there aren't any rules. I can do whatever I want with music, and that's the best part. It feels like I'm connecting my mind and body to create something unique and the process is absolutely beautiful. Music is helping me grow as a person. As of writing this, I've never performed for a crowd. I'm an introvert, and a socially anxious, nervous mess. But I'll chase my dreams to the ends of the Earth, and I'll step far outside of my comfort zone for music.
Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators?
I'm really into Alex G, Elliot Smith, Roar, and TV Girl, but I actually prefer to work alone. If I had to choose, I would want a female singer to accompany me on a duet, perhaps Adrianne Lenker or Mitski. maybe this is a boring answer but I would work with my girlfriend Esther too. She did great on my tracks "Say Anything" and "Sink or Swim". We've been together for three years so we know each others' styles quite well, and she's a very talented singer. One day, I could see myself doing a score for a film too. Music really elevates a good movie, and I would love to have the chance to do that one day. In films, the songs always foreshadow a character's fate if you pay attention closely. The song choice is always intentional. I'm really good at writing stories and if the story was laid out in front of me already, I think I could use subtext and subtle metaphors to bring a story to life. I always strive to say a lot in very little words.
What would you do with the $10,000 Grand Prize?
Your most valuable asset in this life is time. At the moment, my time is held captive by a dead end job. winning this competition could change that. 10k would genuinely be life changing money. this money would allow me to use more of my time to pursue music as a career. I would save it and treat it as a safety net. Although, I do honestly believe that the other prizes are way more valuable than the money in my opinion. This is the first time someone has taken notice of my music, and If I play my cards right, it might be the beginning of a new chapter in my life. A chapter where my time can be utilized in the way that I want it to be. I believe the point of life is to have fun and be happy, and nothing makes me happier than creating music. a vote for me is an investment in my future, and an investment in the future of music. I'm not here to win money, I'm here to win time. I'm not here to get, I'm here to give, but getting this prize will help me give back to the people :)
