What makes you the Next Music Star?
Every bone in my body is musical. I'm a 4th-generation musician and grew up listening to the records my grandpa played on. I've been singing since before I would talk and writing music since I could form sentences. Music has always been a place for me to express myself and overtime, I've become really proud of the art I've created. I've always wanted to be a singer but more than that, I've never wanted anything else at all. When I wish on shooting stars, I wish to be a singer. When it's 11:11, I wish to be on stage. When I blow out the candles on my birthday, I wish... well, I can't tell you what I wish for cause that would ruin it (but you get the point.) I just love music so much.
What do you love about music and performing?
I love absolutely everything about music and performing. It's my outlet, my confidence booster, my happy place, and my favorite thing in the world. I love listening to music and making playlists and truly embedding myself in the feelings of a songwriter. I've been so inspired by how moving lyrics can be and how impactful songwriters are (so much so that I wanted to become one professionally). I've struggled with anxiety and depression for most of my life and music has always helped me feel better. Whether I want to feel less alone, or more confident, a stage is one of the few places my ugly feelings dissipate. I feel like everyone should have a purpose in life. Something to push them, and make them feel needed. For me, that's music. I feel like I'm here to make great songs and help tell stories, and inspire others to do the same.
Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators?
I have SO many dream collaborators. The obvious ones are Ariana grande, Taylor Swift, and Lana Del Rey. Those are the three pop-singers I listen to the most and I feel as if they've heavily inspired my writing. I would also love to collaborate with some of my childhood favorites (like Demi Lovato and Mariah Carey) because I think they heavily shaped the music I make today. I would love to make an upbeat bop with Dua Lipa, Cardi B (I love her!!!), or Charli XCX!!! I'm also such a theater kid and I feel like Lin Manuel-Miranda would be awesome. Like I said, I have so many!!!
What would you do with the $10,000 Grand Prize?
I know I've said this before, but the only thing I want to do is music. If I get the 10,000, I will do everything I can to make sure the next album I put out is as well done and polished as it can be. That being said, I would split my money in three ways: I would spend the money partially on studio time: talented producers, collaborators, and mixing. I would spend a lot of time researching and finding a team and place that I feel could help me make the best piece of work I could. I would spend the second third of the money of promotion of my music and new album. Something I have a really hard time with is that I think my music is really good, but few people hear it. I would spend the money on getting more radio play, social media promotion, and good management teams. Then I would save the final third to use later on more music in the future.
