Learn More About Facing Mayhem

What makes you the Next Music Star?

Facing Mayhem isn’t a manufactured act. We’re a Marine combat veteran, a firefighter, a doctor of psychology who drummed for W.A.S.P., and a Wammie-winning singer, four people from completely different worlds who make heavy music about real struggle and real survival. Our songs come from what we’ve actually lived, and audiences feel that the moment we hit the stage. We were a finalist in Hard Rock Rising at Hard Rock Cafe DC, and we’re featured in SPIN, where Ron Hart called us “the Washington, D.C. heavy prog of Facing Mayhem” and compared us to Iron Maiden and Queensryche. We’ve also drawn press in Brazil and the UK. We’re independent, we’re relentless, and we connect with people who’ve had to fight their way back from the edge. That’s not a gimmick. That’s who we are.

What do you love about music and performing?

Music is where everything we've carried gets to go somewhere. Combat, loss, the weight of the jobs we do, it all turns into something on stage that people can feel and hold onto. Performing live is the payoff. There's a moment when a room locks in with you, when a crowd screams a line back, and nothing else comes close to it. We love that our music means something to people who are going through their own hard things. We're not chasing fame for its own sake. We play because it's honest, it's cathartic, and it connects us to people in a way nothing else does.

Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators?

Our influences run across decades of heavy and honest music, Iron Maiden, Queensryche, Alice in Chains, and the bands that proved you can be heavy and still say something real. Our drummer came up playing with W.A.S.P., and our singer carries the DC Go-Go tradition, so our sound pulls from places most metal bands never touch. Dream collaborators would be artists who write from truth and play with real craft, the kind who use the music to tell a story rather than just fill space. Anyone who treats songwriting as something sacred and the live show as something earned.

What would you do with the $10,000 Grand Prize?

Every dollar would go back into the band. We're fully independent, we record, mix, and master our own music, and we fund everything ourselves. The prize would let us finish and release our debut album the way it deserves, invest in better gear and production, shoot real music videos, and get in front of more people through touring and promotion. We'd also put resources toward playing for and supporting the veteran and first responder communities we come from. This wouldn't be a windfall we'd sit on. It would be fuel to take what we've built on grit and push it to the next level.
