Learn More About DOLC3
What makes you the Next Music Star?
Jenna, Keenna, and Uju bring their talents together to create a unique experience that highlights the diversity of girlhood. DOLC3 is completely independent, allowing them to produce their own beats, write their own lyrics, and create their own choreography. This allows us to break away from stereotypical “girl group” concepts and encourages us to follow any concept we want whenever we feel like it. We are rowdy, goofy, rough around the edges, and not confined to boxes. The members of DOLC3 come from Chinese, Filipino, and Nigerian backgrounds and are supported by a diverse team. DOLC3 aims to be a global group and dreams of showcasing different cultures on the world stage! With their strong vocals, rapping, and dancing, DOLC3 gives hype performances that people of every age and background can enjoy.
What do you love about music and performing?
Music allows you to explore different emotions, personalities, and topics all within one art form. This rings very true with DOLC3. We not only get to explore different sides of who we are, but we also get to escape our day-to-day lives. With our music, we aim to represent different aspects of young adulthood and the varying definitions of the word "girl". We have been told that DOLC3 truly shines during our performances. Every song that we make is made with the performance in mind. The members of DOLC3 all met while on a dance team and it truly shows through our fun and energetic performances. We look forward to partying and making special connections with our audiences.
Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators?
Outside of iconic artists like Michael Jackson and Beyonce, DOLC3 draws a lot of inspiration from 90s girl/boy groups, namely TLC and NSYNC. We admire how TLC showcased their strong personalities with their smooth r&b vocals and fiery rap lines and how NSYNC navigated the pop scene. Our dream collaborations include XG and the Jonas Brothers. Along with their amazing discography, XG has been pivotal to embracing a very different definition of “girl group” which falls in line with what we are pursuing. The Jonas Brothers are a great example of how a group can grow and mature throughout a music career that spans decades. We hope DOLC3 can have the same generational impact that these groups have.
What would you do with the $10,000 Grand Prize?
We would invest it directly into the future of DOLC3! DOLC3 is more than just its 3 members. Team DOLC3 is a group of friends. From music production, to music videos, to photoshoots, to styling, and to graphic design, our friends have volunteered to support us as a way to cultivate their own artistic pursuits. More recently, we even expanded to include marketing, social media, and event management. Investing in our team is investing in the future of DOLC3. Additionally, we would love to invest in more equipment to enhance both our production and performance quality.
