What makes you the Next Music Star?

I think what makes me the next music star is that I’m not trying to be anyone but myself and when this world feels dark, I know my gift is in bringing more light. My music lives in this world I call the “New SoCal Sound”....nostalgic, sun-soaked pop with a modern edge and intentional lyrics. But what matters most to me is how people feel when they hear it. I write about the messy, honest parts of being human: heartbreak, healing, self-discovery, falling in love, and finding your way back to yourself. I want to build a career that’s bigger than songs or streams. I want to create a community and use my platform to spread a little more light, connection, and hope. If someone walks away from my music feeling more alive, understood, or inspired to choose themselves, I’ve done my job.

What do you love about music and performing?

Music has always been the place where I feel the most like myself and how I come to understand myself and the world around me. It has been my healing safe space since I used to sing myself to sleep at night as a 2 year old or when I turned to songwriting to process a life threatening illness as an 11 year old. I love that you can take something incredibly personal, something you may not even know how to say out loud, turn it into a song, and suddenly a stranger can hear it and say, “That’s exactly how I feel.” That connection is everything to me. Performing takes that feeling to another level. There’s nothing like looking out and seeing someone singing words back to you that started as an idea alone in a room. For those few minutes, everyone is sharing the same emotion and the same moment. I love making people feel something, whether that’s joy, nostalgia, heartbreak, freedom, or just feeling a little more alive. That exchange of energy is why I keep doing this.

Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators?

I’m inspired by artists who put real heart and intention into their music. Who write to connect, heal, lift us up, or simply make us feel something. I’m a sucker for a great melody, but I especially love artists who blur genres and create a world entirely their own, pulling from pop, folk, rock, soul, funk and beyond. I’ve always been drawn to that melting pot of California music, from the singer-songwriters of the ’70s to the heartfelt, melodic music of the early 2000s. Stevie Nicks, Carole King, Harry Styles, Switchfoot, Michael Jackson, Prince, Nelly Furtado, Colbie Caillat, Michelle Branch and Gavin DeGraw are some of my biggest inspirations. Dream collaborators include Stevie, Carole, Harry, Gavin, Jon Foreman, Miley Cyrus, Ellie Goulding and The Band CAMINO. I’d love to collide our musical worlds and create something neither of us would have made alone something timeless, soulful and full of heart.

What would you do with the $10,000 Grand Prize?

I’d put the $10,000 right back into my music and the community I’m building around it. As an independent artist, every music video, recording session, live show, piece of content, and marketing campaign is an investment, and I’ve learned how far you can stretch a dollar when you really believe in what you’re creating. I’d use the prize to bring the next chapter of my music to life creating visuals, live experiences, and content that can help these songs reach people who might need to hear them. I’d also love to carve out a portion to create something special for the fans who have supported me along the way. Winning wouldn’t just fund one project; it would give me more freedom to keep building this career independently and bet even bigger on myself.
