What makes you the Next Music Star?
We are a group of seasoned musicians who’ve been doing this for a long time and we’ll never stop collaborating, creating and entertaining! We bring all of our heart and energy every time we’re on stage no matter the size of the crowd we are playing to the back of the stadium giving everything we have to the music we create together. BB has been writing music for decades and has no shortage of creative ideas across genres. Sometimes described as undefinable, but always bringing her greedy big soulful voice to the microphone. Watching her perform is more like an emotional exchange.
What do you love about music and performing?
As alluded to in the previous question performance, for us is an exchange of energy with the audience. BB has described how when she is performing it’s as though she can feel the impact the music is having on each individual in the room even in front of enormous audiences. It’s powerful and feeds her soul right back. We also pride our ourselves and that we sound exactly like our recordings when we play live, and we use no samples. All live instrumentation, what you see is what you get and what you feel is real.
Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators?
From a lyrical perspective BB is inspired by songwriters like Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan, but from a sound perspective it’s all the queens of soul like Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner and Amy Winehouse to the Queens of Country, like Dolly Parton, Lucinda Williams and more recently Brandi Carlile. BB’s sound is often called the mix as Janis Joplin, Brandi Carlile and Melissa Etheridge. It’s the raw soulful grit that people relate to and feel moved by when she sings.
What would you do with the $10,000 Grand Prize?
We are out of Chicago and would like to do a Midwest tour finding our way down to Nashville ideally. These funds would fund that effort to help promote us and get our music out there.
