What makes you the Next Music Star?
I believe I can be the Next Music Star because I have so much I want to share with the world through my voice and storytelling. Being on The Voice was an incredible experience that helped me become a more confident performer and showed me that my emotion and storytelling are strengths worth trusting. I’m excited for the opportunity to bring everything I learned to a new stage. I recently released my EP, Spotlight, which shares personal stories and experiences that I hope listeners can resonate with.I love bringing both the vulnerable and fun parts of myself to the stage, and I believe staying true to who you are, on and off stage, is what helps people connect with you. Even when performing feels nerve-racking, that connection is worth it every time. This opportunity would bring me one step closer to my dreams. I have so much more to say, sing, and discover about myself as an artist, and I would like to show people more of who I am.
What do you love about music and performing?
Ever since I was a little kid, music has been a way to be myself and express feelings that words alone can’t. Some of my favorite memories are singing in the car, dancing in the kitchen with my sisters, and gathering around our piano at Christmas. When my sister Sabrina passed away in 2019, music helped me process grief I couldn’t fully understand at 11. I sang with her college a cappella group at her memorial, not knowing then how deeply music would help me cope. During COVID, I learned guitar and piano to accompany myself and began pouring my heart into songs, notebook pages, and voice memos. I love how music brings people together and gives us a place to put feelings we don’t know how to say. Performing challenges me to be vulnerable and let people see who I am, but it’s also about having fun! I feel most confident on stage, and sharing that joy and connection is what I love most. Through everything, music has helped me find my identity and has always been there for me.
Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators?
My musical influences and dream collaborators include Taylor Swift, Lizzy McAlpine, Olivia Rodrigo, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Laufey. Taylor’s songwriting is poetic, and she is a mastermind when she writes. I love how Olivia’s writing feels so honest and personal while still being relatable. Lizzy’s beautiful, heartfelt lyrics go perfectly with every instrumental, like an extension of her voice. Harry inspires how I perform and interact with the crowd. Seeing him live, I’ve felt how his stage presence and energy come straight from the heart, making even a big show feel intimate. Laufey inspires the jazz part of my artistry through her dynamic vocals, deep lyrics, scatting, bossa novas, and how she mixes jazz into pop. I was also lucky to have Niall Horan as my coach on The Voice. He noticed me as a songwriter and artist and said my strengths are emotion and storytelling. His coaching has influenced how I approach a song and my presence on stage, and I am forever grateful.
What would you do with the $10,000 Grand Prize?
I would put the $10,000 toward creating and sharing more music. Recently releasing my EP, Spotlight, showed me how much time, work, and collaboration goes into bringing songs to life. I would use the prize to record new songs, work with musicians and producers, and help my music reach a wider audience. As a college student pursuing music, I balance school with writing, recording, and performing, and I want to give each of those things my all. This opportunity would allow me to keep growing as an artist and share more of the songs I’ve been writing. I’m so grateful for the support and opportunities I’ve had so far, and this would help me continue building a career doing what I love.
