What makes you the Next Music Star?
I’ve never been willing to give 50%, it’s always been all or nothing for me, and with that learning the business has always been important to me. But nothing comes close to the pleasure I get when I’m in the most creative space. long nights at the studio. Jam sessions with other musicians, and just singing around the house, as I’m going about daily chores. It’s in my bones, and I love it.
What do you love about music and performing?
How better to express what can’t normally be “said”? Music and, even more so, performing your music is the best way to express what’s going on in that crazy mind. And it allows a window into the artists mind. As a fan it could completely change your view of a musician, and as a musician it can cover all of the complexities of being human, while also having a whole room or stage join you for the ride.
Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators?
So I grew up singing Bruno mars covers, also since I resembled him as a kid it was hard to get away from the comparisons. However I’ve always had a bit of an edge about me, so I like to use those contemporary and spectacular harmonies and blend them with a bit of my Atlanta charm. Another dream collaborator would be Adam Levine. I love the idea of making timeless music, and I still sing Sunday Morning at every karaoke night.
What would you do with the $10,000 Grand Prize?
10,000 would be of incredible service on this journey. Starting with putting it back into my craft, revamping some of the tools I work with every day. But honestly I want to set a side a good amount to rent an RV, and take my family on a road trip.. it’s been years since we’ve talked about it, and living across the country means I don’t get to see them too often. So 10 grand would mean I could take some time off of work and try to enjoy a little life before getting back to working on my next project.
