What makes you the Next Music Star?

We started making music together more than two decades ago in Caracas, Venezuela. Life eventually took us to different countries, careers and paths, but somehow the songs never disappeared. Years later, we found our way back to each other and started creating again. We’re not trying to recreate who we were twenty years ago. We’re making the music we can only make now — shaped by everything that happened in between. Our sound blends alternative rock, emotional songwriting, atmospheric textures and Latin American roots, but what matters most to us is connection. When someone we’ve never met tells us that one of our songs meant something to them, that already feels like success. Becoming the Next Music Star would give this unlikely second chapter a much bigger stage.

What do you love about music and performing?

Music has always been the place where we can say things that are difficult to put into ordinary words. We love everything about creating it — the moment a melody appears out of nowhere, building an arrangement around it, obsessing over a tiny sound nobody else may notice, and eventually watching that song become something completely different when it reaches an audience. Performing is where all of that becomes real. There’s a moment when a song stops belonging only to the people who wrote it and becomes part of someone else’s experience. That connection is what keeps us doing this. Whether we’re playing for ten people or thousands, if one person in the room genuinely feels what we’re playing, the music has done its job.

Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators?

Our influences come from artists who have never been afraid to evolve: Radiohead, U2, Muse, Depeche Mode, Steven Wilson, Gustavo Cerati and Soda Stereo, among many others. We’re especially inspired by artists who combine strong songwriting with experimentation — music that can be beautiful, uncomfortable, intimate and massive at the same time. A dream collaboration would be with Nigel Godrich. His ability to preserve the humanity of a performance while creating extraordinary sonic worlds is very close to the way we think about records. And from the Latin American world, collaborating in any form with musicians connected to the legacy of Gustavo Cerati would be incredibly meaningful to us. His work proved that Spanish-language rock could be sophisticated, experimental and universal

What would you do with the $10,000 Grand Prize?

We would reinvest the entire prize into the music. Alither has already recorded a new body of work, and the next challenge is taking those songs beyond the studio. We would use the prize to produce live audiovisual sessions, create music videos and promotional content, and help bring the band together for performances. Because our members now live in different places, performing together requires considerably more planning than it did when we started the band in Caracas. The prize would help turn something we rebuilt remotely into something people can experience together in a room. We spent years finding our way back to this music. If we won $10,000 because of it, the best thing we could possibly do with the money is give the music a bigger life.
