• What do you love about music and performing? Music is just so special all around - I love the process of writing, recording, and collaborating with my producers. There's something truly exhilarating about bringing an idea to life and expressing myself through music- whether it’s to an audience of one in a car or a bedroom or to a crowd in a club. The connection and energy are the special parts.
• Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators? I draw inspiration from female singer-songwriters of the 90s like Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, and Alanis Morissette. They exemplified nerve and profound lyrical skill that still influence my craft today. Additionally, I admire legends like Billy Joel and Dolly Parton, whose artistry and storytelling have left a lasting impact on the music industry. I would love to collaborate with any of the artists I already mentioned, or other favorites like AWOLNATION, Ben Folds, Eminem, and Miley Cyrus.
• What makes you the Next Music Star? I just live and breathe music. My whole life has led to this moment: I have a rock solid foundation of decades of technical training (piano) and recording (voice). That combined with my decades of storied life experience, including the triumphs of grad school, the heartbreak of divorce, and the joys of motherhood, have gifted me with the ability to create songs that are deeply personal yet universally relatable.
• What would you do with the $10,000? $10,000 would help recoup the investment that has gone into the creation of this music (the recording, the promotion, etc). Unsigned artists see very little revenue from streams (I’ve literally earned $18 in the last year in royalties), so the prize from this competition would allow me to continue making music and spreading my messages to my listeners. That’s why I do this in the first place!
