• What do you love about music and performing? I see music as its own language, and a way to connect with people. Part of the reason I sing in both English and Tagalog is because I want my family to see what goes on in my mind past cultural or language barriers. Life is a rollercoaster to navigate and sometimes you feel alone, but on stage and in a crowd sharing the same feelings and experiences you write about in your music, that energy and connection you feel is so real and comforting.
• Who are your biggest music inspirations and dream collaborators? I listen to everything! I draw experience from SO many artists and genres. Queen got me into songwriting, but K/DA got me into producing. There is something about the crispness of K-Pop production that I wanted to uncover. My dream is to produce or creative direct for a girl group or a boy band someday! I 'd love to collaborate with KATSEYE, Umi, Omar Rudberg, Lisa, PAiDA, BINI, Rhea Raj, Josh Levi, and Tate McRae. Their music and performance styles are similar to mine and I feel like we'd cook!
• What makes you the Next Music Star? My first EP is coming out this year. It's very different from my first two singles! My goal for this era is to be unapologetically myself. I may curate a very specific image for myself--expect some y2k, early 2000's Lisa Frank-type visuals--but it is a true reflection of me and how weird I am! Behind-the-scenes I have also been picking up new skills and polishing my craft because I always want to evolve. I feel like that's a very important aspect of putting yourself out there as an artist.
• What would you do with the $10,000? All of my music projects are funded out-of-pocket so I would love to get some financial assistance on my next music project! I love preparing for new eras and imagining the visuals, sound, and look of whatever I want to do next. It takes a village to support an artist, and I have several collaborators I am so grateful for who I believe deserve to be compensated with what they deserve. I would also like to donate my winnings to a charity of my choice! (Free Palestine <3)
